Apr 2, 2015 Battle It Out Solitaire Style in Solitaire Arena 2     0 Solitaire is the single most entertaining way of arranging a messed up 52 card deck into their classifying color and sequence. Several variants and methods of arrangement composes the different types of this famous card game but in general, shares the same objective of completely arranging the sequence and color/suit of the given set of cards.

The game is popularized by lending much of its key mechanics to the recent releases of solitaire games across the multitude of platforms available today. But the original card game has yet to surface back into its full form, revamped for its take on the gaming needs of the modern age, the aspect of massive peer to peer playability and social media integration. That is, until the release of the title Solitaire Arena by Mavenhut Ltd.

Solitaire Arena employs the most common known version of solitaire, Klondike. The Klondike version of solitaire follows a specific manner of arrangement of the cards before starting the game. Composing of seven total number of columns, starting with column one, is a single card facing up. From columns two through seven, will contain cards in that column equal to their column number with all of the cards on a face down orientation and the bottom most card facing up. For example, in the fifth column, four cards will be in a face down position plus the bottom most card in a face up position – summing up to a total of five cards in the fifth column.

The games goal is to build four card piles, arranged in ascending order and by their color/suit starting the sequence with the ace. You are allowed to use revealed (face up) cards from the table, turning the card over whenever you remove the face up card at the bottom for another pertaining sequence use. From the deck (remaining pool of cards), you can draw one card at a time to gradually take part in the sequence, aiming to complete the arrangement by descending order. When the draw deck is exhausted, it is simply reshuffled and used again.

Although the game automatically puts up the initial setup of cards, competing players then shall still follow its basic set of rules.
In this online game however where two (online players) participants compete, the goal is not just to have all 52 of your cards fully sequenced and arranged by color/suit, but you must beat that objective faster than your given opponent.

You take a score one point for each card you send to the finalized four piles of sequenced cards(color/suit arranged from ace to king) and, an additional point per card if your opponent has not yet sequenced that card to his/her pile arrangement. There is an on screen scoreboard from where players can monitor their performance and the score progress between the ongoing match.

The game is totally free to play but also promotes of a few lineup of in game boosters for those willing to drop some cash into it. These includes magic wands that reveal and allow the use of face down cards, the unlimited use of the undo button to undo a previous move, and the unlimited hint button to reveal a current suggested move. Other than that, a few selection of card skin set (design) is also available for purchase.

All in all, Solitaire Arena is a new approach to the classic card game Solitaire. The competitive aspect introduced by battling out the completion time across the players on the social network provided a new spice on the relative classic game. And though it may not provide a twisty underlying plot or the gleaming spectacle of high end visuals, it is relatively the single most common card game that anyone could easily pick up, enjoy playing, and posts achievements online to brag about.
